Who we are – and what we stand for

We are many: employees, workers, school students, university students, self-employed, unemployed – different, but together in Roter Stern Berlin.

Our groups are as diverse as we are: basketball, boxing, soccer, chess and more. What unites us is clear: solidarity, respect and fun in sports.

We do sports from below and recreational sports as well as performance and competitive sports – often self-organised, always together.

Sadly, sports are still far too often a place of exclusion. We don’t accept that.

We take a clear stand against discrimination – whether racism, antisemitism, queerphobia or ableism. And we name problems where they occur: in others – and in ourselves too.

Our opponents are not people because of their origin, identity or way of life, but the teams we compete against in sports.

Beyond sport, we are active in alliances such as NOlympia Berlin and “Es reicht! Sozialabbau stoppen” (Stop social cuts). More under Partnerships and alliances.

What defines us

Solidarity

We believe that what unites us is stronger than what divides us.

Diversity

Our diversity is not a challenge – it is our strength.

Open to all

Together we shape sports, culture and education that is more: social, in solidarity and open to all.
