What the project is about
For several years, Roter Stern Berlin has been organizing exchange and support trips to Cuba. Club members travel regularly – especially around Havana – to train together with local athletes, maintain contacts with sports structures and build long-term relationships.
Besides the encounters on site, we collect sports equipment and medical supplies in Berlin, which are transported to Cuba together. The aim is to improve training conditions and strengthen sporting exchange in the long term.
Alongside this, events take place in Berlin on Cuba’s history, society and culture, deepening the exchange beyond sports.
Why Cuba matters to us
The cooperation with Cuba stands for international solidarity in practice. Sports become the connecting element between people with different life circumstances.
The exchange enables mutual learning, new perspectives and a better understanding of social contexts. At the same time, we support local sports structures where resources are lacking and strengthen long-term relationships between the communities involved.
For Roter Stern Berlin, this commitment is more than a single project – it expresses who we are as a club built on solidarity.

Impressions from our encounters
The encounters in Cuba are shaped by training together, conversations and mutual support. Sports become a shared space of experience in which language, origin or living conditions take a back seat.
Whether training sessions, renovation work or joint events – the exchange thrives on personal encounters and direct togetherness.
Partners & network
The Cuba project is based on close cooperation with local boxing clubs, coaches and sports initiatives on site. The relationships have grown over many years and are based on trust, mutual respect and continuous exchange.
Besides the partners in Cuba, the project is made possible by the commitment of many club members as well as supporters and donors who organize donations in kind and transport.
Get involved & take part
The Cuba project thrives on the commitment of many people in the club. We welcome members who would like to help organize, prepare or carry out the exchange trips.
