Changes
Updating your details
My bank details have changed – what do I need to do?
Send your new IBAN and the account holder’s name to mitglieder@roter-stern.berlin, together with your full name and date of birth. If a new SEPA direct debit mandate is needed for the new account, we’ll get in touch.
Ideally let us know before the next collection date (the 1st or 15th of the month) so no direct debit bounces.
I’ve moved or have a new email address or phone number.
Under our fee regulations, changes to your personal details must be reported without delay. A short email to mitglieder@roter-stern.berlin is enough – with your name, date of birth and the new details.
My name has changed.
Send us your old and new name at mitglieder@roter-stern.berlin. If the name on your bank account changes as well, please include your bank details.
What happens if a direct debit bounces?
Returned direct debits cost the club bank fees. We’ll contact you – please settle the payment promptly and send us new bank details if anything has changed.
Good to know: members who are more than one annual fee in arrears can be excluded after two written reminders (§ 6 (5) of the statutes). It doesn’t have to come to that – just get in touch if money is tight right now.

How and when is the fee collected?
By SEPA direct debit from the account you gave in your membership application. The fee is collected on the 1st or 15th of each month; your first payment depends on the month you join. The joining fee is collected with the first payment.
How do I get the reduced fee?
Reduced fees must be requested with proof: send your request and proof to mitglieder@roter-stern.berlin – for example your apprenticeship contract, BAföG or Bürgergeld notice, or a certificate for your voluntary service. Without proof, the regular fee applies. Please also let us know when you’re no longer eligible.
What does the fee include?
Your fee covers sports insurance through the Landessportbund Berlin as well as contributions to the VBG and GEMA. More on your insurance cover on the insurance page. Extra offers such as seminars or training camps may cost extra.
Can I switch from monthly to annual payment?
Email us at mitglieder@roter-stern.berlin and we’ll change it for you.
Cancellation
Cancellation & breaks
How do I cancel my membership?
Leaving the club must be declared in writing to the board. Send your cancellation to mitglieder@roter-stern.berlin with your name, date of birth and the date you want to leave. We’ll confirm it.
What notice period applies?
You can leave with three months’ notice to 30 June or 31 December (§ 6 (2) of the statutes). That means:
- Leaving on 30 June: cancel by 31 March at the latest
- Leaving on 31 December: cancel by 30 September at the latest
Fees continue until the leaving date.
Can I pause my membership?
The statutes don’t provide for a break. If you can’t take part for a longer time – because of an injury, time abroad or money – write to us anyway and we’ll look at the options together.
