Safe sports for children and young people
Protecting children and young people is the highest priority at Roter Stern Berlin. We want young people to be able to do sports with us safely, respectfully and without fear.
Violence, sexualised violence, boundary violations, abuse of power, discrimination and demeaning behavior have no place with us. We don’t see child protection as a formality, but as a shared responsibility of the whole club.
Roter Stern Berlin holds the child protection seal of the LSB Berlin (Berlin Sports Federation). The seal shows that clubs implement binding standards for protecting children and young people in sports.
In an emergency
If someone is in immediate danger or needs help right away, please contact the emergency services, the police or a child protection emergency service directly.
Our stance
Sports should empower.
Children and young people should be able to try things out, learn, grow, make mistakes and be part of a community built on solidarity. That requires safe spaces, clear rules and adults who take responsibility.
That’s why we pay attention to respectful interaction, transparent structures and a culture in which tips, worries and complaints are taken seriously.

Looking out and taking action
What we do in practice
We are continuously working to further develop our protection structures. This includes in particular:
- clear codes of conduct for coaches, supervisors and people in charge
- named contact persons for child protection
- regular awareness-raising and training for people who work with children and young people
- checking enhanced criminal record certificates
- transparent procedures for tips, complaints or suspected cases
- following the standards of the Berlin Sports Federation (Landessportbund Berlin)
- applying and further developing our in-house safeguarding concept
If you notice something
Reach out if you have a bad feeling or need support – especially if:
- you feel uncomfortable in training
- boundaries have been crossed
- you have experienced or observed violence, pressure, threats or discrimination
- you are worried about a child or young person
- you are unsure whether a behavior was okay
- you need advice as a coach or member
